Basil – Ocimum basilicum, also called great basil belongs to the family Lamiaceae (mints). There are varieties of Basil leaves all over the world, the commonly used types are sweet basil, thai basil, lemon basil and holy basil. How to consume-

Basil seeds are best when consumed pre-soaked in water. You can soak two tablespoons of Basil seeds in warm water for about 30 minutes. The warm water will make the seeds fully swell up and develop a translucent white film over each seed. These seeds can be added in various dishes to provide a nutritious boost.
